Will I ever be normal again?

This is what Trey asked me last night. I wanted to say no but not because of his arthritis, I wanted to say no since he is now a teenager. Ha. A hard question to answer. Are any of us normal? Probably not. I know that because of circumstances in my life, I hope I don't go back to being normal. I hope that I am changed and that my new normal with Christ is much better. I don't know what the future holds for Trey, I only know who holds it and I know that HE is in control of our normal not me.

Be joyful in hope, patient in afflictions, constant in prayer. Romans 12:12

Fire FIre Fire

That was what Trey said all night long last night. He said his ankles felt like fire. We (Trey and I) were up most of the night with the increased pain. Please continue to pray for the medication to relieve some of the pain. He is going to sit out of athletics today and see if he can get some relief. Hard to watch your child in so much pain. I told him my heart hurts as much as his ankles hurt to watch him in pain. Thanks for your prayers.

An event like no other

Not sure how to turn the picture but you will still be able to see. You can imagine my face after seeing the total amount of the bill yesterday at the Dr's office. I am hoping for no more events like this one. When I saw the total I thought for sure that was a diagnosis code but I was wrong it was yesterday's charges. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Cell project

Trey had to create a cell that was edible. Quite a treat for a boy to be creative this way. The final product.

Caridologist

Travis had his appointment today and the Dr said that there was nothing physically wrong with his heart, not that we expected that. His murmur is still there and not surprised at that either. He has an Event monitor for a month and we are hoping for an uneventful event monitor. Everytime he feels the rapid heart rate he is to push the symptom button and then we call in the results. Hoping it is nothing. Thanks for your prayers.

Travis' heart

Travis has had some rapid heart rate issues and tomorrow we will see the cardiologist to see what's going on. Like I needed another medical issue this week. Trey is still very stiff, hurting more in the morning and evenings. Continue to pray for the medication to work and for his attitude and heart to be softened. I know he is hurting and it breaks my heart. I don't want him to be angry and question why me? Pray for Robert and I and we continue to process this journey.

Trey's appointment

We had a great appointment on Wed in Houston. The dr there was so great and very detailed. She checked Trey from head to toe and was very concerned about his ankles. He has no lateral movement in either ankle. She is ordering an MRI and more blood work. The diagnosis is still arthritis we just don't know the specific type of arthritis yet. He is on a new anti- inflamatory medication and will be getting orthotics for his ankles and feet. She said that she could get Trey to about 50% but that there would be pain and when he has a flare up it would be less than 50%. It is discouraging however, just another challenge. Our prayer right now would be for medication to relieve some of the pain, if it does not, he will have to stop all activity. This would not be great for an active boy. Thank you for all your prayers and emails. Your support is amazing. Will keep you posted as we learn new information.

Crazy Week

I started on Monday by taking Trey to Scottish rite for his appointment. Then Monday after school I had to move my entire classroom across the street and set up for school on Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon, Trey and I flew to Houston for a Wednesday appointment at Texas Children's Hospital. Thursday night Travis had a heart episode requiring a doctor visit on Friday. No School on Friday but I had my physical at dr in the am. Then Travis to the the Dr in the afternoon. Am hoping for a more normal week.

One appointment down

Trey had an appointment at Scottish Rite this morning. At this point, we know nothing, more blood work, another MRI with contrast and then we will go from there. Our next appointment with them is not until Nov. 1st. Again, my frustration with them in that Trey is hurting and Nov 1st is a long way away. UGh. Hoping we will get some answers on Wed.

Guess where we went on Saturday????

Is it fall YET?

After going to central market today and seeing all the pumpkins, I was thinking wouldn't it be great if it really was FALL. I am dreaming of sweaters, jeans and jackets. I was so inspired by the Fall pumpkins at central market that I came home and make a fall arrangement. Enjoy and remember that is was only 94 today. NOT FALL at ALL.

Too much of a good thing

Trey spent the night with a friend for a sleepover on Sat night and this is what happens when you stay up until 3 am. Way tooo late for treybird..

Back to our "new" normal

Yesterday Trey was back at baseball, his favorite thing to do. I prayed, worried, prayed more and then had a peace about him playing again. Since the steroid injections he has not been able to play, run or do anything. So with no practice, he went out and played in his first game yesterday. He hit, ran and played Shortstop well and seemed to be fine. He said his hip hurt a little but not bad. The steroids will be wearing off this weekend so pray for healing, no pain and for Trey to begin to understand his new normal with arthritis. Thanks for your prayers they are felt.

Two appointments not ONE

Well, we now have two appointments for Trey. One at Scottish Rite on Sept. 20 then in Houston on Sept. 22. The one in Houston is the one we were trying to move and it finally happened. We are planning on going to both appointments to see what both doctors have to say and then deciding which route to go. We are hoping for some aggressive treatments to get Trey back on his feet soon. He has a baseball game this weekend so we are hoping he can play. Thanks for all the prayers for the sooner appointment. It was answered.

This is how it rolls at gigi's house

Only at Gigi's house would you be handed a plate of cookies. Oh my word!!!

Go Red Raiders

Of course, Travis and Trey watched the Tech game. They were not happy about it not being a blow out. They are true fans especially Travis, he always dresses for the occasion.

Normal???

A friend asked me today if I was ready for things to be "normal" again. I had to laugh because what is normal. As I type this Travis is hooked up to two IV's for his "normal" weekly IGG treatment. I am working on our schedule for this week, trying to figure out when we can get Trey into see a specialist, trying to schedule Travis' counseling appointment. Robert is leaving town for the week. Homework, stomach aches, headaches, I guess this is our NORMAL. So I guess I am ready for us to be back to normal.

Frustrated beyond belief

UGH!!!! I have called everyday this week to try to change Trey's appointment and this has been a nightmare... with all the Dr's I have dealt with I have never had issues like this. The people are Houston scheduled Trey for Oct. 25 and trying to move this up is impossible. Our Dr. here called as well and he can't even get it moved. NOT sure what is going on. I had to ask for forgiveness today as I was so ugly to the lady on the phone, just super frustrated. Appointment is still for Oct. 25th. Pray that this can be changed to a sooner time.

Waiting for Appointment

Trey has an appointment with the Dr in Houston, however it is not scheduled until October 25th. We are trying to get this moved up so that medications can begin before we have more issues. Continue to pray for pain free days.
