Trey's Arthritis Update

Trey saw the rheumatologist last week and much to my surprise had a rough appointment. He has over 6 joints at this point in time that are enlarged, inflamed and should be causing much pain and damage. Trey after much discussion with the dr admitted that he is in a lot of pain and his joints are really hurting. He doesn't want to go back on the embrel injections which is why he is hiding the pain. He has been icing a lot more and saying his ankles hurt but not to the extend that they are really are. The dr is MOST concerned about his elbow as the tendon is protruding out and is concerned about tommy johns. We will have an MRI to follow up on this. His left ankle joint is 3 times the normal size and could explain his sudden slowness in running. Oh MY... so long story short  WE ARE going back to embrel shots once a week. Tears welled up as the dr said we have no choice. Trey hates needles worse than anyone and this is a really hard thing for him to overcome. So we decided that on Sundays when I poke Travis for his IV's I will poke him with Embrel. Just make it a poking sunday. (because that's normal :) ha ).... so continue to pray for healing for joints as we do not want to cause long term damage from the arthritis and pray for his elbow that it is not as serious as she thinks. And if anyone wants to practice being a nurse just stop by on Sundays we have plenty of opportunities for you. :)

Baseball

So where have we been the last few weeks?  ALL STAR BASEBALL  both boys made the all star teams in their division and we have had baseball every night. Both teams have been eliminated but both enjoyed the post season workout.

1400 Really!!!!!

after our insurance nightmare and finally getting the new medication, Travis had his IGG levels checked and for the first time in his life it was 1400. The highest it's ever been. The medication is doing it's job and his IGG is great. Dr.Bloomquist was thrilled and said to stay the course. Poking Travis for three IV's has had it's challenges and he still does not like it but we are making it through and I am pleased that he is tolerating the medication well. His poor legs look horribly huge after the infusion and we are doing a pre medication for the itching and swelling but over all he is tolerating the treatment well. Thank you Lord...
